UK CTO's to visit Vietnam Software Development centres

I am on a mission! On the 13th October I am looking forward to leading a Software Technology Mission to Vietnam. The delegation represents a number of UK businesses interested in using the first class Vietnamese IT resources available in what is the third largest outsourcing destination in ASEAN region.

Given the stormy financial climate, (or is it better described as typhoon) the need for IT to deliver “more for less” is uppermost in every CIO and IT Directors mind. Richard Holway’s thoughts about IT service companies battening down the hatches, illustrates this so well. http://hotviews.blogspot.com/

Offshoring and outsourcing in a controlled way provides one important route to more for less and that is just one reason why some of the most senior CTO’s and CIO’s are visiting Vietnam. The want to see the young and professional IT resources for themselves, visit development centres and understand how others have led the way into Vietnam software development sector.

Vietnams software industry costs are lower and more stable than both China and India with staff churn levels that they, and the UK can just dream of.

The visit starts in HCMC and the journey ends in Hanoi. I intend to give an update over the week and maybe include some insights from delegates about their findings.
